If you are a doctor and are currently in a medical residency program or have recently completed one, you know that this training is fundamental to improving your skills and knowledge. It is a period of dedication that requires cost containment due to the need to prioritize training, and often requires professionals to travel to other cities. In this sense, doctors who are enrolled in a medical residency program accredited by the National Medical Residency Commission, in any specialty, are guaranteed the right to payment of housing allowance, provided that the institution does not offer the conditions for housing.
When are Resident Doctors entitled to Housing Allowance?
The right to housing allowance is automatic for all resident doctors, regardless of their geographical location or personal circumstances. If you are enrolled in a medical residency program, this benefit is available to you.
How does it work?
Housing Provided by the Institution: If the healthcare institution provides adequate accommodation, the resident doctor will have access to housing within the facilities. It should be noted that the housing mentioned in the law does not refer to the hospital space used for resting between shifts Cash Housing Allowance: If the institution does not provide housing, it is obliged to pay the resident doctor the amount corresponding to the cash housing allowance. So even if you already have your own accommodation, the benefit still applies.
